The name is trusted and the packaging looks enticing: dinosaur shapes, 100% all-natural chicken, no fillers, no antibiotics. Unfortunately, there is one thing these Perdue nuggets forgot to include on the labeling – they forgot to mention the nuggets contain milk.

This may not seem like a big deal, but it is. Could you imagine being the parent of a kid with a milk allergy? You do your best to check every single label to make sure you are not giving them anything harmful, but what happens when they leave the allergens off the label?

Perdue is recalling 16,000 pounds of their dinosaur nuggets for misbranding and undeclared allergens. Many of these nuggets were sold right here in Pennsylvania.

At Shenderovich, Shenderovich & Fishman, we know how damaging faulty or mislabeled products can be. If you need a Pittsburgh product liability attorney, you can count on our team to be by your side, working to secure the compensation you deserve.

How This Happens

When discussing how faulty products hit the market, we do want to say that it is rarely intentional on the part of a company or manufacturer. That does not, however, mean they are not negligent.

  • Improper Labeling – as is the case with the chicken nuggets above, many problems arise with labeling. A label must have proper directions and dosages. It should list all hazards and ingredients. This includes allergens.
  • Poorly Designed – if a product has a poor design or a design flaw that is not discovered during testing, it can cause the entire line to be faulty.
  • Manufacturing Problem – even if a product has a good design, something can go wrong while it is being produced to alter it from its original design.

Go look at the government website that tracks current recalls in the US. You will see that there are hundreds of products on the market and in the hands of consumers that can cause harm. Sometimes these products make it to our nightly news:

  • The vehicles that catch fire while people are driving down the road.
  • The major E. coli outbreaks in romaine lettuce products.

Most of the items in your home are safe, but it only takes one product being faulty to cause major injuries or illness. Companies and manufacturers should be held responsible when this happens.
